These inscriptions (from a historical area in Chengdu, China) are literally thousands of years old.
It's rather rare that you get to walk around in the midst of such history.

It is these intricacies of carvings, pieces of history, embedded bits of the past found everywhere that are one of my favorite parts of visiting other countries.  I lived in Paris for a time (exquisite buildings & history in that city, too) and traveled to many countries, but never as far as China :(    This is a lovely photograph!

I love this picture, it reminds me of a movie shot where the camera is panning over various shots (don't quite know how to explain that thought lol). I love how the focus is on the circular Chinese design, that really grabs my attention first (I'm sure you were always going for that anyway). I'm a big sucker for things Asian so this really called to me, and I love how you have the rest of the designs on the wall, though blurry, showing. Some people will crop them out, but i'm glad you didn't because it really helps set the mood for this picture.  Simply an amazing shot.

Into the familiar abyss,
And the moments that never happened
Are the ones that I miss....
